Waikaramihi Cartisciano | Kaupapa Māori Research

A smiling woman with curly hair wearing a blue shirt and a necklace.

Ko ngā Tūpuna te Ara - ka mua, ka muri

Waikaramihi Hinerangi Haeana Hemara, known professionally as Waikaramihi Cartisciano, works across kaupapa Māori research, strategy and writing.

Her work sits at the intersection of culture, creativity, strategy and system design, bringing mātauranga Māori and contemporary innovation together to create new possibilities.

With postgraduate study in Māori management and experience across strategy, writing, design and creative practice, Waikaramihi focuses on identifying patterns, understanding complexity and developing ideas that are meaningful, practical and enduring.

Through research, writing, art, design and strategic frameworks, she explores how culturally grounded approaches can contribute to resilient organisations, stronger communities and more sustainable futures. Her work is guided by whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, pūkengatanga, kotahitanga, wairuatanga and rangatiratanga.

Mātauranga Māori and the knowledge carried through whakapapa provide the foundation for this approach, informing work that balances cultural integrity, innovation and long-term purpose.

Te Wairua

Our greatest resources are not financial, but spiritual and relational.
When we invest in our stories, our people, and our collective knowledge, we create a legacy that lasts generations.

My mahi bridges worlds where imagination becomes infrastructure and creativity becomes change.

Te Moemoeā

This site is a living archive of ideas and stories that explore how Māori can shape the systems of tomorrow.
It’s where art meets economy, and strategy becomes storytelling.

Each project begins with whakapapa and is woven with the same intent: to restore balance between people and whenua, between innovation and tikanga, between the past we honour and the future we design.

He kupu whakamutunga

“Ka tū te mana motuhake i runga i te kotahitanga.” Self-determination stands strong through unity.
